Why cook a whole chicken in a slow cooker? The skin doesn’t come out crispy. if crispy skin is what you’re looking for, then a traditional oven is a better way to go. But a slow cooker is great for juicy tender chicken for sandwiches, soups, casseroles, shredded chicken, stir fries…any recipe that requires precooked chicken. It's also a lot less sally than a precooked supermarket rotisserie chicken. It's also economical. You can even use the bones to make chicken broth. Just place the bones in a slow cooker with cut vegetables (carrots, celery onions) and some spices (parsley, thyme, sage, salt, pepper). Add water to generously cover the ingredients and cook on low for about 6 -8 hours, or on high for about 4 -5. When don, spoon out the sollids with a slotted spoon. To get rid on and fine sediment, ladle the broth through a strainer. Now you have a nice healthy pot of chicken broth. It's much less salty that the store bought broth.
